The runway is 02/20 with all circuits to the East, avoiding
Stapleford ATZ.
There is an uneven slope downwards from south to north and
the threshold altitudes are approximately as follows:
- 02
is 250ft amsl,
- 20
is 225ft amsl.
WARNINGS:
- This
is a very busy area – keep a good lookout at all times
- You
may wish to contact Stapleford Radio for details of their traffic.
- It
is suggested that arriving traffic joins from the North East at Stapleford
circuit height (1200ft amsl) before descending into a circuit at about
1000ft amsl (750ft aal).
- If
Stapleford is operating off runway 22 or 28, some circuit traffic may fly
overhead the field
- There
are high tension power lines within about half a mile from the threshold
of runway 20
- There
are trees at the threshold of the runway in both directions
- There
are trees and other obstructions around the entire site: pilots should be
prepared to encounter significant gusts on approach.
- The
first 100 yards of runway 20 is severely undulating
- The
runway has an uneven slope along its length downwards towards 20 threshold
with an overall drop of about 40ft.
- There
is a possibility of livestock encroaching the runway
- There
are two public footpaths crossing the runway at approximately the mid
point
- An
electric fence and barbed wire run close to the eastern side of the
runway.
- There
is domestic property bounded by hedges close to the western side of the
runway
- Jenkins
Farm is an unlicensed farm strip with very limited emergency facilities
- The
runway can be very soft after periods of rain
Here are some photos of the farm from the air.

Note to pilots, the zigzag
hedge-line on the south-eastern boundary makes a useful
recognition point when approaching from the Doddinghurst radio
mast north of Brentwood.
