Current status of Sheepcoates Farm airstrip (8/2/06)

First and foremost, we’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to those friends and supporters who did write in to the council.

The planning application (see below) was presented to Maldon Council in November 2005. After a visit to the site by some of the Planning Committee to observe the operation, and a long discussion at the formal meeting in February 2006, they decided against the planning officer’s advice and refused permission. That is their right.

We will continue to use the field within the limits of the Permitted Development Rights. This means that we are limited to the number of days per year we can fly there, but not limited to the number and nature of the flights on those days. That is our right.

You can follow the official record of these decisions by following this link [click to view]

At present we are taking advice as to whether we are better to appeal the decision or to resubmit an amended application.
